I would say working under BCCS was my best internship experience so far. Healthy working environment, good leadership, proper working etiquette, hands on experience, they would bring out the real capabilities of what you can do to achieve their vision and mission, so did ours at the same time. I also realize my circle of friends grew a little bit, expose for networking 👍🏼 so did my perspective or idea for certain matters. They made me look things outside the box.

Throughout my life, I often struggled to determine which field of study is appropriate for me. During the attachment at BCCS, I was exposed to scientific data regarding climate change and the consequences of environmental degradation in Brunei, as well as globally. This internship challenged me to perform research on climate change related policies alongside various other tasks which helped recognize my strong skills and develop myself professionally. It was also a great opportunity to work with a team that is highly inspiring and committed to the cause. As a result, the experience certainly envourged me to continue my education focusing on climate or environmental physics in hopes to pursue a career that will be meaningful and create a more sustainable future.

I did my attachment with BCCS during my discovery year. It ws a definite pleasure working at BCCS. I find it remarkable that our government and NGOs are trying their best to be involved in mitigating climate change in our country. There were a lot of stakeholders involved to keep everything in check. Working with BCCS kept me on my toes but it has been really exciting to be part of something big.

The tasks assigned during my internship at the BCCS allows me to experience a real working environment. Also, it significantly improves my communication skills as I have worked and acquainted with a lot of people and various meetings with different stakeholders.

During my 6 months internship with BCCS, I managed to gain real working experiences that are not only related to my field, but also those far from it. Alhamdulillah, this had helped me in having more career options to choose from and increase my knowledge and likings to those fields I have never heard of. The internship had also helped me in increasing my climate change literacy and have better practices in order to live a more sustainable lifestyle and raise awareness to the people around me.

As a fresh graduate, BCCS took me in as an i-Ready apprentice and it was one of the most valuable professional experiences I’ve ever had. At the Secretariat, I was provided with a lot of opportunities which helped expand my network, polished my analytical and writing skills, and sharpened my knowledge of the world. The management and the officers were always keen to provide guidance not just to myself, but to all my peers. My experience was so great so much so that I am determined to continue championing climate change no matter where I go.
